Model Anglo Bengali Grammar and Composition book 2 for class 3 and 4 | Dr. Subhrendhru Bhattacharya
Model Anglo-Bengali Grammar and Composition is a series of six book, meant for class I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII and VII of Bengali medium schools where English is taught as a second language. Like any other grammar series, it consists of the rules and guide-lines that are used to teach English language in primary stage and also secondary stage. But the method is not from rules to examples, but from examples to rules. It means that the inductive method of learning English has been followed. So the movement is from the particular to the general i.e., from the table, chair, cow etc. to the naming words and nouns; from good, bad, long to describing words or adjectives. Side by side, English words and sentences and their Bengali meanings are included for the proper understanding by the learners.
The series is perfectly well-graded considering the maturity level of the learners. This will be able to make them fit to study English, a foreign language, systematically. As a result, the series has been reader-friendly and motivating.
Now it is an admitted fact that in language studies reading and writing skills along with speaking skills should be included for the betterment of the learners. If such skills are practiced from the primary stage, the pupils will be well-equipped to learn a foreign language well. Keeping all these facts in mind, we have made an attempt to make the pupils able to learn English- an important and a useful subject- effectively and in a lively manner. Needless to say, the use of mother tongue in the series will enhance clarity and precision in comprehending the language concerned. Suggestions for the improvement of the series from respected teachers and educationalists will be heartily accepted.
